BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Krista Woodworth (Norton) netted a pair of goals to help propel the Massasoit women's soccer team to a 6-1 victory against Bristol CC on Tuesday afternoon at Warrior Field.
The win closed out the regular season for the Warriors, posting a 10-4-1 overall record, along with earning a spot in the Region 21 Finals. Massasoit will face top-seed Holyoke CC in the regional championship on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. in Holyoke, Mass.
Against Bristol, Massasoit built a 3-0 halftime lead, thanks to goals from Woodworth, Silvia Sosa (New Milford, N.J.) and Delmy Brooks (Brockton).
The game seemed to be very one-sided in favor of the Warriors in the opening stanza, but the Bayhawks hung around, netting goal in the 61st minute to make it a 3-1 game.
However, Massasoit would strike right back, when Woodworth scored in the 64th minute off a pass from Na Nunes (Brockton). Later on in the second half, Shauna Fitzpatrick (Braintree/Whitman-Hanson HS) and Shelby Sprague (Stoughton) each netted goals to claim the 6-1 victory.
