Women’s Soccer Tops Springfield Tech, 7-0

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Shelby Sprague (Stoughton) posted a hat trick and Krista Woodworth (Norton) dished out four assists as the Massasoit women's soccer team got back on the winning side with a 7-0 win vs. Springfield Tech on Monday at Warrior Field.

The victory snaps a two-game skid for the Warriors, and now boasts an overall record of 7-2-1 on the season, 5-1-1 in league play.

Sprague, who now has a team-best 21 goals for the season, recorded her seventh multi-goal performance of the season and third hat trick.

Woodworth registered a career-high four assists and added a goal as the Warriors defeated STCC (0-6-1) for the second time this season.

Massasoit held a 3-0 lead at the break as Woodworth set up goals for Sprague, Delmy Brooks (Brockton) and Shauna Fitzpatrick (Braintree/Whitman-Hanson HS) in the opening stanza.

In the first minute of the second half, a foul inside the box occurred, allowing Courtney Wagner (Stoughton) to rifle home her first goal of the season on a penalty kick.

Sprague tacked on two more goals, and Woodworth chipped in with a goal of her own to round out the scoring spree for the Warriors.

Laura Ellis (Raynham/Bristol-Plymouth Voc.) and Cinthia Pires (Brockton) combined on the shutout.

Massasoit travels to CCRI on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. match.
