Women’s Soccer Ranked No. 18 On NSCAA Junior College Poll

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit women's soccer team earned a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) most recent junior college poll, ranking No. 18 in the country. It marks the first time this season the Warriors have earned a National ranking.

The Warriors own a 6-1-1 overall record and 5-0-1 against Region XXI competition. Prior to Thursday's 3-1 loss to NHTI, the Warriors had allowed just three goals over the previous six matches and totaled four shutouts.

During that six-match stretch, Massasoit outscored the competition 27-3. For the season eight different Warriors have scored a goal and 11 student-athletes have registered at least one point.

Two-time NSCAA Junior College Player of the Week Shelby Sprague of Stoughton tops the team with 18 goals and 38 points. Joining Sprague in double digit points are Delmy Brooks of Brockton (5g, 5a; 15 pts), Gina Nutting of Rockland (3g, 4a; 10 pts) and Krista Woodworth of Norton (2g, 6a; 10 pts).

In goal, Laura Ellis of Raynham, also an NSCAA Player of the Week this season, is allowing just 1.40 goals per contest and tallied a 76.1 save percentage for the year. She has made 35 total saves, including 17 stops in a 2-2 tie with rival Holyoke CC back on Sept. 19.

Massasoit will travel to division rival HCC on Saturday, with the match set to start at 1 p.m.
