BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Shelby Sprague (Stoughton) netted two goals and added an assist as the Massasoit CC women's soccer team blanked Dean College, 4-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Warrior Field.

"We did a lot of nice things today and we got to play a lot of the girls," head coach Jim Stapleton said. "We were missing a couple players and I know Dean was as well. But I'm happy to get the win and now we get ready to play Bristol on Thursday."

Massasoit (3-0-1) hung a 3-0 lead on the scoreboard at halftime, as three different Warriors netted goals in the opening stanza over the visiting Bulldogs (1-3).

Krista Woodworth (Norton) found the back of the net in the fifth minute of action, when she headed home a corner kick cross from Sprague to take the early 1-0 lead.

Six minutes later, Sprague netted her first of two goals on the day off another Warrior corner kick. The freshman now has team-best 10 goals on the season.

Later in the half, Shauna Fitzpatrick (Braintree/Whitman-Hanson HS) moved up from sweeper to the midfield and buried a through ball from Gina Nutting (Rockland) to give the Warriors a commanding 3-0 advantage at the break.

In the first half, Massasoit outshot Dean 21-0, as action took place primarily in Dean's defensive half of the field.

After half, Sprague buried a pass from Emily Morgan (Stoughton) in the 47th minute to round out the scoring.

Reigning NSCAA Junior College Player of the Week Laura Ellis (Raynham/Bristol-Plymouth Voc) and Cinthia Pires (Brockton) combined for the shutout in goal as each keeper posted a save.

For the game, Massasoit rifled off 40 shots to just five by Dean.

Massasoit will play at Bristol on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
