BOSTON --- Leading 1-0 at the half, the Massasoit Community College women's soccer team exploded for six goals after intermission, four coming from freshman Shelby Sprague (Stoughton/Stoughton HS) as the Warriors cruised to a 7-0 victory at Bunker Hill.

The Warriors, now 2-0, rifled off 14 shots in the first half, but only could find the net once as Na Nunes (Brockton/Brockton HS) scored in the eighth minute of action.

In the second half it was a different story for Massasoit as 6 of 20 shots went for goals, including four off the foot of Sprague. In two games at Massasoit, the true freshman has scored seven goals for the Warriors.

Sprague bookended the scoring spree in the second half, netting the first two and last two goals of the period. Also finding the back of the net after the break was Nunes, with her second goal of the contest, and Gina Nutting (Rockland/Rockland HS).

In total, the Warriors outshot the Bulldogs 34-3, as Warrior keeper Laura Ellis (Raynham/Bristol-Plymouth Voc) made two stops for the clean sheet.

The next game for the Warriors is a home contest on Saturday at 1 p.m. against rival Holyoke CC.
