BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Ty Hawkins (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored a game-high 38 points in her Massasoit debut, as the Warriors defeated Springfield Tech, 87-51, on Saturday afternoon at the Peter Asiaf Field House.

The preseason No. 4 Warriors led 22-12 after the first quarter, before exploding in the second stanza, outscoring STCC 24-7, to own a 46-19 cushion at the break to cruise the season-opening victory.

Hawkins finished 15 of 28 from the floor en route to her team-best 38 points. She added five assists, four rebounds and three steals to her stat line.

Shardajah Collins (Winter Have, Fla.) added 13 points, followed by 11 from Adrianna Grant (Brentwood, N.Y.) and 10 by Alyson Reid of Boston.

As a team, the Warriors totaled 23 steals in the victory.

Massasoit returns to the hardwood on Monday, with a road contest at Holyoke CC slated for 1 PM.
