BROCKTON, Mass. ---- For the second-straight week the Massasoit women's basketball team sits atop the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball rankings, recently announced by the national office.

Massasoit went 2-0 last week, earning a home victory vs Gateway CC (103-63) before defeating Springfield Tech on the road, 103-43, to close out the first semester with a perfect 12-0 record.

The 12-0 start marks the best beginning to a season in program history as the Warriors along with Brookdale CC (New Jersey) are the only remaining undefeated teams in the NJCAA Division III ranks.

"It's great seeing our team as the nation's No. 1 team for a second consecutive week," head coach Mark Leszczyk said. "We have spoken as a group about the additional expectations this places on our team; not only to defend the ranking on our court, but to also conduct ourselves like the No. 1 team in the country off the court and with officials and opposition. We are very excited to end 2018 and begin 2019 with Massasoit being No. 1!"

The Warriors are 8-0 vs Region 21 teams, 3-0 vs NJCAA Division II teams and 2-0 vs current teams that are ranked or receiving votes on the season.

Massasoit is off until January 5, when it takes a trip south to play Georgia Northwestern Tech.
