Women’s Basketball Explodes Past CCRI, 77-47

WARWICK, Rhode Island ---- Deadlocked after one quarter of play, the Massasoit women's basketball team exploded on offense to remain undefeated with a commanding 77-47 victory at CCRI on Tuesday night.

Massasoit improved its perfect record to 7-0 on the season and hosts Roxbury CC on Thursday at 5:30 PM.

The Warriors and Knights (2-5) were tied 14-all heading into the second quarter.

Massasoit amped it up on both ends of the court, outscoring CCRI 63-33 the rest of the way to earn its seventh consecutive victory.

Ky'Jae Hargrove (New Haven, CT) paced the Massasoit offense, netting a game-high 23 points on 10 of 19 shooting as a total of four Warriors scored in double figures.

Next in the scoring department was center Shania Osborne (Hartford, CT) with 18 points, 16 coming in the second half, along with 11 rebounds.

Shania Shorter (Hartford, CT) scored 14, highlighted by going 4-of-5 from 3-point range and Nina Robinson (Virginia Beach, VA) tallied a double-double with 10 points and 12 boards in the win.

The Massasoit defense held CCRI to just 27.3 percent (18 of 66) shooting from the field and 21.9 percent (7 of 32) from 3-point range.

Jada Littlejohn led the Knights with 14 points.
