BROCKTON, Mass. ----- The Massasoit women's basketball team had nationally ranked Roxbury on upset alert, but the Tigers pulled away in the fourth quarter, claiming a 70-58 contest on Tuesday at the Peter Asiaf Field House.

No. 2 Roxbury (13-5, 10-0) led wire-to-wire but Massasoit (6-11, 5-5) erased a double-digit deficit by pulling within two points, 47-45, with 2:26 left in the third thanks to a Karen Snow (Duxbury) jumper and free throws by Sienna Johnson (Brockton).

However, RCC answered quickly as Kayla Kelley drained a pair of 3s in the quarter's final minute, including a buzzer beater to pull the visiting Tigers back up eight points heading to the fourth.

From there, the Tigers then went on a 11-4 run to start the final quarter and held off the pesky Warriors, led by Destiny Hurt's 12 points in the final frame.

Courtney Foley (Holbrook) topped Massasoit in scoring with 18 points, followed by 14 each from Johnson and Snow.

Charee Osborne and Hurt each netted 20 points.

Massasoit treks to the University of Connecticut at Avery Point on Thursday for a 6PM contest.
