Big Second Half Leads Women’s Hoop Past Bristol, 101-62

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit women's basketball team put up 59 points in the second half as seven players score 8-or-more points in a 101-62 victory against Bristol on Tuesday night.

Sierra Johnson (Brockton) led the Warriors with 25 points, followed by Sasha Gagnon (Brockton) with 15 and Sienna Johnson (Brockton) and Karen Snow (Duxbury) each netting 14 in the season opener.

The Warriors raced out to a 23-8 after one quarter of play, but the visiting Bayhawks bounced back in the second stanza. A big run down the stretch, pulled Bristol with seven at the half, 42-35.

In the first half Courtney Foley (Holbrook) led the way with 10 points, followed by Sienna Johnson with eight points and Sierra Johnson with seven.

In the second half, the Bayhawks fell into big foul trouble as three players fouled out and were forced to play down a player for all of the fourth quarter.

Debra Banks paced Bristol with 30 points, followed by Iris Rivera with 17.

Massasoit plays at Bunker Hill on Tuesday at 5:30 PM.
