Women’s Basketball Battles Roxbury in MCCAC Finals

BROCKTON, Mass. --- For the third time in four seasons, the Massasoit women's basketball team will battle Roxbury for the MCCAC State Championship on Sunday at 12 PM, hosted by Quinsigamond CC.

Massasoit (11-9) defeated Bristol in a semifinal contest on Wednesday, 78-46, thanks to a balanced offensive attack that featured five players in double figures.

Roxbury (20-2) earned an automatic bye to the championship and currently sits No. 3 in the most recent NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball poll.

For the season, the Warriors average 70.6 points per game as five student-athletes average 10-or-more points. Sophomores Geornaisha Silva-Moore and Tati Dias, both from Brockton, each average 12.6 PPG. The duo is followed in the scoring department by Monica Knight (11.9) of Halifax, Natascha Elias (10.3) and Sierra Johnson (10.2), both from Brockton.

The Tigers feature a high-powered offense, netting 95.6 points per game, as all nine players on the roster average 8-or-more points. Brooklin Davis leads the way for the Roxbury at 18 PPG, followed by forward Charee Osborne at 15.9.

In two regular season meetings, Roxbury won by scores of 90-59 and 87-50.

Roxbury has won 45 consecutive games against Division III opponents within Region 21. The last loss came to Massasoit in the Region 21/MCCAC Championship game in 2014.
