FRANKLIN, Mass. ---- The final score did not indicate how close of a contest it was between the visiting Massasoit women's basketball team and Dean College on Monday night, but the Bulldogs pulled away in the final minute for a 71-61 victory in non-conference action.

With Dean clinging to a three-point lead in the fourth quarter, the home Bulldogs outscored the Warriors 9-2 in the final 33 seconds of action to hold on for the win. The loss drops the Warriors to 7-7, while Dean improves to 15-7.

Geornaisha Silva-Moore (Brockton) topped four Warriors in double figures with 19 points on 7-of-17 shooting. Silva-Moore also filled up the box score with seven assists, five rebounds and two steals.

Sierra Johnson (Brockton) netted 13 points and twin-sister Sienna Johnson (Brockton) added 12, including going 6-for-6 from the foul line.

Monica Knight (Halifax) also scored 12 points and pulled down a team-high 15 rebounds for a double-double.

The first quarter was a nip-and-tuck affair, showcasing two evening matched teams. In total, there were eight lead changes and four ties as the Bulldogs held a 19-17 lead heading into the second.

Dean kept the advantage throughout the second quarter, until Massasoit's Silva-Moore converted a 3-point-play with 2:01 left prior to intermission to give the Warriors a 31-29 lead.

During the final two minutes, Iindia Pina made a pair of layups to give Dean a 33-31 cushion at the break. Silva-Moore netted 13 in the opening half for the Warriors.

The game stayed extremely close through the third. Dean would build a five-point advantage with 1:03 remaining in quarter, but a pair of free throws by Sienna Johnson and jumper by Cynthia Laing with 18 seconds left brought the Warriors back within one, 48-47, heading to the fourth.

Dean led the entire fourth quarter, but a Monica Knight layup with 21 seconds left pulled the Warriors back within a single possession, 64-61. However, Fataya Larry put in a basket with 11 seconds left and the Bulldogs sank five free throws to close out the 10 point victory.

In total, the game featured eight ties and 16 lead changes.

The Bulldogs placed four players in double figures, topped by Iindia Pina with 21 points. Fataya Larry added a double-double with 20 points and 17 rebounds in the win.
