BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Geornaisha Silva-Moore (Brockton) made a buzzer-beating layup to give the Massasoit women's basketball team a dramatic 76-75 victory against the University of Connecticut at Avery Point on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing by one point with 3.1 seconds left, UCAP attempted to throw a sideline pass from midcourt into the backcourt. The pass was intercepted by Silva-Moore, who drove down and got her layup off in front of a UCAP defender as the horn sounded to improve the Warriors to 7-4 on the season.

Silva-Moore finished with a team-high 21 points, featuring six in the fourth quarter.

Monica Knight (Halifax) was next in the scoring department for Massasoit with 16, followed by Natascha Elias (Brockton) with 11 and Tati Dias (Brockton) with 10.

Massasoit led 36-27 at intermission.

UCAP (8-7) hung around against the Warriors, thanks in part to the offensive play of guards Meagan Bianchi and Mia Dupuis. Bianchi scored 20 of her game-high 31 points in the second half, and Dupuis added 23, 18 coming after halftime.

Tatyana LaFrance-Boyce chipped in with 10 points for the Pointers.

UCAP finished 23 of 41 at the foul line, while Massasoit attempted just 12 free throws making eight.
