Warriors Win Streak Snapped To Nationally Ranked Roxbury

ROXBURY, Mass. ---- Riding a three-game winning streak, the Massasoit women's basketball team struggled in the second half against the No. 2-ranked Roxbury Tigers, falling 90-59 on Tuesday night at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Massasoit (4-3, 3-2) led the high-powered Tigers (7-1, 4-0) 15-14 after the first quarter. Roxbury, who entered the contest averaging 95.7 points per game, scored 24 in the second quarter to own a 38-26 at the break.

Following intermission is where the Tigers opened it up, outscoring the Warriors 30-10 in the period to put the game out of reach. Roxbury's Brooklin Davis netted 12 in the third.

"We actually played pretty well in the first half," head coach Colie Trawick said. "We limited our turnovers (only six in the first half) and played solid basketball. In the second half, we stopped taking care of the basketball and allowed RCC to control the tempo. When we played under control I thought we gave (RCC) problems, but we just didn't play that way consistently for all 40 minutes."

Geornaisha Silva-Moore (Brockton) paced the Warriors with 12 points, including a trio of 3-pointers made. She grabbed four rebounds and dished out four assists.

Sienna Johnson (Brockton) also added 12 points, while Tati Dias (Brockton) added 10 points and seven assists and Monica Knight (Halifax) chipped in with 10 points and seven boards in the loss.

Roxbury had all eight players score eight or more points, led by Davis' 18.

Massasoit ended the night with 31 turnovers, 25 coming in the second half.

The Warriors play at Springfield Tech on Saturday at 1 PM.
