Massasoit Selects Colie Trawick As Women’s Basketball Head Coach

BROCKTON, Mass. --- Athletics Director Julie Mulvey recently announced the hiring of Nicole "Colie" Trawick as the Massasoit women's basketball head coach for the upcoming 2016-17 season.

"We are excited to welcome Colie to the Massasoit Athletics family," Mulvey said. "Colie brings energy and great coaching experiences prior to coming here to Brockton. She will be an excellent role model for our female student-athletes and we know she will hit the ground running in her first year."

Trawick a former two-sport collegiate student-athlete, comes to Brockton with collegiate coaching experience at NCAA DII, NCAA DIII, NAIA, NJCAA and high school levels.

"I am thrilled to be named the new head coach for Massasoit the women's basketball program," Trawick said. "I want to thank Julie and the search committee for allowing me this opportunity. I'm honored to be a part of the Warrior family and look forward to building a winning tradition."

The Willingboro, New Jersey native, comes to Brockton with a vast array of coaching experiences, most recently as the women's basketball head coach at the College of St. Elizabeth (Morristown, N.J.). In her lone season guiding the Eagles, an NCAA Division III program, Trawick led the team to a .500 record in league action (10-10) and coached Ashley Pledger to a second team all-conference selection. She was hired just 15 days before the start of the 2015-16 season.

Prior to St. Elizabeth, Trawick served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the women's basketball team at the University of Arkansas-Monticello (Division II) during the 2014-15 season. She assisted the Weevils in posting their first winning season since 2008-09. The team also captured the program's first postseason victory since joining the Great American Conference (GAC).

Her coaching resume also includes assistant coaching stops at Central Methodist University (2012-14), an NAIA Division I program, and Burlington County College (2010-12), NJCAA Division II program. Trawick also coached the junior varsity team and was a varsity assistant at Pemberton Township High School.

Trawick started her collegiate playing career as a student-athlete at Bluefield State College participating on the soccer and basketball teams. She went on to transfer to USC-Upstate to play soccer, before earning her bachelor's degree in communications from Belhaven University in 2010. She later earned her master's degree in education and athletics administration from Central Methodist University in 2014.

"My goal is to foster a positive culture that will help these young women, both academically and athletically towards the next steps in their journey," Trawick said. "I have already spoken to this great group of young ladies whom have been nothing but positive about the transition and I'm excited to get to work!"

She inherits a women's basketball program that posted a 9-15 record in 2015-16 and replaces the departed Taryn Johnson, who was named the Director of Women's Basketball Operations at her alma mater Fairfield University.
