CHARLESTOWN, Mass. ---- The Massasoit women's basketball team hung with top seed and No. 1 nationally ranked Roxbury for a quarter, but the Tigers pulled away in the second half to claim the MCCAC Championship, 87-54 on Sunday.

Massasoit (9-14) was paced by freshman Geornaisha Silva-Moore (Brockton) who finished with 20 points, four assists and three steals.

Natascha Elias and Tatiana Dias, both from Brockton, each tallied 14 points in the loss.

The Warriors fought with the Tigers in the opening period, tying the score at 20-all with 1:58 left in the first off an Elias 3-pointer.

That would be as close as Massasoit would get against Roxbury (20-2), as the Tigers outscored the Warriors 30-11 through the second quarter. Roxbury led 50-31 at the half.

Massasoit will get a rematch against Roxbury at the Region 21 Tournament, next Saturday at Springfield Tech with tip set for Noon.
