No. 1 Roxbury’s Third Quarter Proves Too Much For Massasoit Women’s Hoops

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- No. 1 Roxbury CC outscored the Massasoit women's basketball team 33-9 in the third quarter en route to claiming a 101-61 victory against the Warriors on Tuesday night.

After falling behind double digits in the first quarter, Massasoit (3-5) outscored the nation's top team, 19-17 in the second.

Roxbury led 47-34 at intermission.

However, during the big third quarter for the Tigers, Alyssa Stewart poured in 14 of her game-high 32 points to put the game out of reach as Roxbury improved to 9-0 on the season.

Massasoit did post a balanced scoring attack with four players reaching double digits, led by Geornaisha Silva Moore's 16. Tatiana Dias (Brockton) added 14, followed by Laura Malley of Halifax with 12 and Cynthia Laing (Boston) with 11.

Taj Lewis netted 29 for the Tigers.

The Warriors return to the hardwood on Saturday, hosting Great Bay CC at 1 p.m.
