BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Despite career-highs in points from Marrissa Spivey (Brockton) and Stephanie Robbins (Marshfield) the Massasoit women's basketball team fell in a close contest to Holyoke CC, 53-48, on Saturday.

Spivey finished with her first career double-double, pouring in 17 points on 8-of-15 shooting, along with 12 rebounds. Robbins netted a career-best 17, including a pair of 3s and added six boards.

Massasoit (0-10, 0-8) led 25-23 at the break, as the duo of Robbins and Spivey accounted for 18 of the team's first half points.

With just over eight minutes to go in the second half, Warrior center Tiana McQueen (Mattapan) fouled out as the scoring pendulum would swing in favor of the visiting Cougars. McQueen finished with six points and 15 rebounds.

Robbins kept the Warriors close in the final minutes of the contest, draining 3s on back-to-back possessions, including a four-point-play, but HCC proved to be too much in the end.

Chelan Rodriguez led the Cougars with 17 points, while Amber Rode chipped in with 14.

Massasoit returns to the court on Thursday, with a road contest at Roxbury CC slated for 5 p.m.
