BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Fredi Lawson produced her team-best 11th double-double and three other Warriors scored in double figures, but CCRI built off its first half lead and hung on against the No. 8th-ranked Massasoit women's basketball team, 72-63, on Saturday afternoon.
Massasoit (10-6) saw Lawson (Boston/J.E. Burke HS) score 13 points and pull down a game-high 16 rebounds in the loss.
Ashley Andrade (Randolph) scored 12 points off 6-of-11 shooting, 10 points coming in the second half. Marina Palladino (Carver) scored 14 points, including a pair of 3s and Tianna Johnson (Brockton/New Mission HS) came off the bench to score a team-high 15 points with six rebounds and six assists.
The Warriors struggled from the floor, shooting 23-of-59 overall (39 percent) and just 12 of 23 at the foul line (52.2 percent).
The CCRI Knights also did not shoot well, going 25-of-64 (39.1 percent) from the field. The Knights did make nine 3-pointers, but needed 32 attempts to make them.
Amber Edwards led CCRI with 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting.
Massasoit returns to the court on Tuesday, with a road contest at Bunker Hill CC. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
