Lawson Leads No. 10 Massasoit Women's Basketball To Victory

WORCESTER, Mass. ---- Fredi Lawson (Boston/J.E. Burke HS) produced a monster game, scoring a career-high 36 points and grabbing 22 rebounds to guide the Massasoit CC women's basketball team past Quinsigamond CC, 66-42, on Saturday afternoon.

The win marked the 10th in the last 11 games for the No. 10-ranked team in the NJCAA Division III poll, as the Warriors improved to 10-4 on the season.

Lawson also posted a personal-best in rebounds, finishing with 22 boards, 10 coming on the offensive glass. The forward has surpassed the 20-rebound mark on two occasions and has double-doubles in seven of the team's previous eight games. She shot 14-of-26 from the field and knocked down a career-high six 3s on 10 attempts. She added two assists and three steals.

Next in the scoring department was Marina Palladino (Carver), finishing with 19 points. Palladino knocked down six shots from downtown as the Warriors finished 12-of-27 from 3-point range in the victory. Palladino added a team-best seven assists.

Massasoit finished with 47 rebounds for the game as Stephanie Goddard (Randolph) pulled down a personal-best 10 boards. Arianna Gonsalves (Dorchester/Brighton HS) also totaled a person-best in rebounds with four.

Tiana McQueen (Mattapan/Boston English) chipped in with nine points and six boards, while Cynara Rustin (Brockton/Minutemen Regional) added a bucket.

Massasoit held a 33-23 lead at intermission and held Quinsigamond to just 19 second half points to claim the 24-point victory.
