Softball’s Pitts & Spivey Earn All-Region Accolades

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Sophomores Ashley Pitts (Rockland) and Marrissa Spivey (Brockton) both represented the Massasoit Community College softball on the All-Region XXI First Team, recently announced by the league office.

Pitts, a Rockland native, hit .333 for the season out of the leadoff spot for the Warriors. After a slow start at the plate, the sophomore second baseman finished hitting .404 (19-for-47) over the team's last 14 games. During that stretch, Pitts recorded at least one hit in 10 of 14 games and recorded six multi-hit performances. Her top game came in a 14-11 victory over Dean College, when she went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored.

Spivey was the backbone and backstop for the Massasoit softball team in 2015. The sophomore catcher was behind the dish for every inning of every game and hit in either the No. 3 hole or cleanup all season. The Brockton native hit .353 for the year and knocked in 11 for the Warriors. Her RBI total ranked tied for fifth in Region XXI and she finished with five multi-hit performances.
