Palladino, Young Named To All-Region Softball Team
BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Sophomores Marina Palladino (Carver) and Amanda Young (Randolph) of the Massasoit Community College softball team were named All-Region XXI student-athletes recently announced by the conference.
Massasoit finished the season 8-8 after starting the season 0-3, thanks in large part to Palladino and Young in the middle of the Warrior lineup.

Palladino started all 16 games for Massasoit at first base, hitting at a team-best .458 (22-for-48) clip, which also ranked fourth in the region. Palladino topped Region XXI in both on-base (.552) and slugging (.646) percentages and collected a hit in 13 of 16 games. The Carver native posted seven multi-hit performances and six games of two-or-more RBI along with knocking in 18 and scoring 19 times. In her final game at Massasoit, Palladino clubbed her only home run of the season, launching the round tripper at home vs. Quinsigamond CC.
In her second year as the team catcher, Young hit .364 (16-for-44) and ranked second in the league, trailing only teammate Palladino, in on-base (.509) and slugging (.568) percentage. The backstop showcased great patience at the plate, leading the conference in walks (13). Young finished with six multi-RBI performances and five multi-hit games and totaled 18 RBI and 13 runs scored for the year. Young had a career day against Quinsigamond when she was a single shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with five RBI.
