Ladouceur Takes First In 100m To Highlight Massasoit T&F At Regis Pride Classic

WESTON, Mass. ---- Karlyvelle Ladouceur (Winter Park, Fla.) took home the top time in the 100-meter dash and Massasoit claimed first and second in the 4x100m relay races to highlight the Warrior track & field programs at the Regis Pride Classic on Sunday.

Ladouceur became the first individual at Massasoit to capture first place in an event in program history. The freshman sprinter clocked a time of 12.85 in the 100m. She also finished second in the 200m, posting a 26.48 finishing time, just .02 off the top time.

Another impressive individual performance came from sophomore sprinter Nick Vaughn (Kingston). In the 100m, Vaughn finished third overall, clocking a season-best time of 11.32.

In addition, Liam Brennan (Middleboro) competed in nine different events on Sunday, including both the 4x100 and 4x800.

In the relays, the foursome of Mitch Vaughn (Kingston), Cassis LaFleur (Brockton), Justin Bean (Foxboro) and Nick Vaughn won the 4x100 with a time of 46.27. The Warriors also took second place in the event, with Tevon Springer (Sharon), Brennan, Kevin Baldwin (San Jose, Calif.) and Joe Singletary (Brockton) posting a time of 47.16.

In addition, three Warriors broke their own school records at Regis. Baldwin reset the 3,000m steeplechase record, placing fourth in 11:47.10. Mitch Vaughn also bested his own record in the triple jump, leaping 11.57m and Aaron Prescott of Carver placed third in the discus throw with a Massasoit-best distance of 35.67m.

Lastly, the 4x800 relay of Baldwin, Brennan, N. Vaughn and Bean finished third in a school record time of 9:53.03.

The Regis Pride Classic marked the final track meet of the 2016 regular season for the Warriors. A total of nine Massasoit student-athletes qualified for the NJCAA Nationals, held at Westfield State, scheduled for May 7-8.
