Men’s Soccer Treks to CCRI with Region 21 Crown in Reach

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit men's soccer team will close out the regular season on Friday at CCRI with the opportunity to claim its sixth consecutive Region 21 Championship.

The match will start at 3 PM on CCRI's Lincoln campus.

With a victory or tie, Massasoit (6-6, 1-0 R21) will win the season series against the Knights to earn the regional crown and advance to the NJCAA Division I Northeast District Tournament, which the Warriors would host on November 3-4 at Warrior Field.

If CCRI were to win Friday's match, a winner-take-all third game would be played on Sunday. The location of the third game would be determined by coin flip following Friday's contest.

In the first meeting with CCRI, Massasoit captured a 5-0 decision at Warrior Field on Oct. 2. For the game, Leon Zaffonato paced the offense with a pair of goals, while goalie David Isaac made five saves to earn the shutout.

CCRI (2-7-1, 0-1 R21) has netted just eight goals in 10 matches this season.
