KANSAS CITY, Mo. ---- Massasoit men's soccer player Leon Zaffonato (Brazil) was recently earned the United States Soccer Coaches Player of the Week for his efforts on the field last week.

Zaffonato, a freshman, finished the week with five goals and three assists in leading the Warriors to a 2-0 record. The Brazil native started the week notching his first career hat trick in a 3-2 road victory at NHTI.

The freshman followed up his hat trick with a two-goal, three-assist performance in a 13-0 victory vs Springfield Tech at home last Saturday.

For the season, Zaffonato has recorded eight goals and seven assists and becomes the second Warrior to win the weekly honor, joining goalie Wilson Fernandes who garnered the award on Sept. 5.

The Warriors play at Bristol on Thursday (3:30 PM) before hosting MassBay on Saturday at 1 PM.
