Men's Soccer Tops Holyoke, 4-1

HOLYOKE, Mass. ---- Trailing Holyoke Cougars 1-0 at the break, the Massasoit men's soccer team woke up and netted four second half goals to earn a 4-1 win on Tuesday.

Massasoit (3-4) outshot Holyoke 40-1 in the contest, but could not find the back of the net in the opening stanza.

The Cougars (0-5) scored the game's first goal on their only attempted shot, finishing in the 13th minute of the game.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, the Warriors came out like gangbusters in the second half, scoring four times, three coming in a four minute span to earn the victory.

Deivys D'Almeida (New Bedford) scored twice, Charlie Swann (England) added a goal and Camnagha Namusse (Cape Verde) dished out a pair of assists. The first goal for Massasoit was an own goal allowed by the Cougars.

"We just could not score in the first half," head coach Rui Estrela said. "We finished with 40 shots and nothing was going in. We hit the cross bar a couple of times. But in the first half we played sluggish. After halftime we started moving the ball and played much better soccer. We are going to need to finish more consistently moving forward."

Massasoit treks to ASA-New York on Saturday for a match slated to start at 6:30 PM.
