BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Freshman Deivys D'Almeida (New Bedford) was named Men's Soccer Division I NJCAA Player of the Week for his performance in the Region 21 Championship victory last Saturday.
D'Almeida, a central midfielder, was involved in all three of Massasoit's goals as the Warriors topped CCRI, 3-1, to claim their ninth Region 21 Championship in the 11 seasons under head coach Rui Estrela.
The New Bedford native scored Massasoit's first two goals, both coming in the first half, before dishing out an assist to Sidney Cardoso in the second half to round out the scoring.
D'Almeida had not scored all season prior to the regional championship, posting the best game of his career as a Warrior by registering five points.
Massasoit travels to Monroe College to face the Mustangs on Saturday at 11 AM in the Northeast District Semifinals in New Rochelle, N.Y.
