BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Sidney Cardoso capped an outstanding week on the pitch for the Massasoit men's soccer team by being named both the NJCAA and NSCAA Junior College Player of the Week recently announced.
Cardoso (Portugal) netted five goals and added an assist as the Warriors posted a perfect 2-0 record for the week. He finished with 13 total shots, eight on goal.
The freshman forward started the week with a pair of goals and an assist in a dominating 9-0 win over Roxbury CC. Cardoso followed that effort up with a hat trick against Bristol CC, with all three goals coming in the first half, as the Warriors rolled to a 6-0 win.
Cardoso has really stepped up his game in the second half of the season, netting nine goals over the last three matches and scoring at least once in seven of the team's last eight games.
Cardoso joins Kessy Alves (Brockton/Southeastern Voc.) as Massasoit men's soccer players to capture both national player of the week awards this season.
The Warriors are off until Saturday, when they hit the road to face nationally ranked Dean College for the Region 21 title. The match is set to start at 1 p.m. at Longley Field in Franklin, Mass.
