BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Five different Warriors scored as the Massasoit men's soccer team topped the Community College of Rhode Island, 6-1, at Warrior Field in Region 21 action on Wednesday afternoon.

The win marked the fifth in a row for the Warriors, upping their record to 7-4 overall. The victory also guarantees Massasoit a spot in the Region 21 Championship against Dean College slated for Sat., Oct. 31, with home field yet to be determined.

"I would have liked to see the guys play hard for the whole 90 minutes, but they went out there and got the job done," head coach Rui Estrela said. "They knew what was a stake (a trip to the Region 21 Finals) and we were able to get it done and now we can move onto to the next game and continue to get better."

Massasoit was held without a shot until the 15th minute, when Jose Erazo (Hyannis/Barnstable HS) took a cross from Andrew Revanales (Trinidad/Sharon HS) and rocketed a left-footed missile in the upper-90 of the goal to take the early lead.

Less than 10 minutes later, Terrance Treh (Milford) made a move in the midfield a dished off a pass for Kessy Alves (Brockton/Southeastern Voc.) to bury a wide open goal.

Massasoit held a 3-0 lead at the break, as Kyle McGibbon (Jamaica) one-timed a shot from Revanales in the 33rd minute for his first goal of the season.

After intermission, Elvis Andrade (Brockton/Penn Foster HS (Pa.)), Sidney Cardoso (Portugal) and Alves all added goals to round out the scoring to defeat the Knights in convincing fashion.

For the match, Massasoit finished with 28 shots, 10 coming on net and totaled 13 corner kicks.

"CCRI is a good team," Estrela said. "They just fell behind early. We did a good job of keeping the pressure on them and keeping the ball in their defensive halve."
