BROCKTON, Mass. ---- In a second half that saw all seven goals of the match, Massasoit found the back of the net for five of them as the Warriors topped Holyoke CC, 5-2, on a soggy Wednesday afternoon.

Massasoit (6-4, 5-1 Region XXI) finished with 32 shots with 11 coming on goal, as four different Warriors scored.

In a scoreless tie at intermission, a frenzy of goals took place in a four-minute span early in the second half. Manny Fortes (Brockton) netted the first goal of the rainy day off a rebound, and Joel Lobo (Brockton) scored three minutes later in the 58th on a pass from Pepe Vieira (Brockton).

However, HCC answered back with a goal in the 59th minute to pull with one.

In a track meet of a second half, Vieira buried a header off a corner-kick-cross from Nate Estrela (Falmouth) in the 77th minute to give the Warriors a two-goal cushion.

After Adilson DaRosa (Quincy) fired a penalty kick in for his first goal of the season, HCC tacked on another goal in the 84th minute. Massasoit rounded out the scoring with a HCC own goal in the 5-2 victory.

Andre Reis made four saves in net for the Warriors in the win.

WHY MASSASOIT WON: The Warriors controlled possession throughout the first half, but could not do much offensively, tied 0-0 at the break. After intermission, Massasoit went full throttle, firing off 23 total shots and netting five total goals.

CLOSER THAN IT LOOKED: Leading 2-0, HCC netted its first goal in the 59th minute. Two minutes later, the Cougars had a breakaway, but Warrior keeper Reis came out and made a full extension save to keep the one-goal-lead intact.

NEXT UP: Massasoit steps out of league play to take on the AIC JV team in Springfield, Mass., on Sunday at 1 p.m.
