Kutulla, Lobo Lead Men’s Soccer To Win Over Springfield Tech

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ---- Vangjel Kutulla (Norwood) and Joel Lobo (Brockton) each netted two goals a piece as the Massasoit men's soccer team shut out Springfield Tech, 4-0, on Saturday.

Massasoit (5-4, 4-1) led 3-0 at the break as Kutulla found the back of the net twice and Lobo scored his first of two goals.

At the beginning of the second half, Lobo scored the fourth and final goal for Massasoit on the afternoon in the 50th minute of action.

Arthur McNally (Canton) and Estefanio Barbosa (Brockton) combined on the shutout as the duo only had to make one save in the victory.

"We played well in the first half and that carried over into the second half," head coach Rui Estrela said. "The win was good for team morale and I hope it helps us moving forward."

WHY MASSASOIT WON: Massasoit put the ball in the back of the net four times, while STCC only got off two shots. The Warriors controlled the pace of play and possession throughout the contest.

MULTIPLE MULTI-GOAL SCORERS: For the first time in 2014, the Warriors had two players record two-or-more goals in a match. Joel Lobo and Vangjel Kutulla each netted two goals in the victory.

SHUTOUT CITY: Massasoit posted its fourth shutout of the season, when it blanked STCC on Saturday.
