Men's Soccer Rolls Past Roxbury CC, 6-0

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit Community College men's soccer team took a 4-0 lead into intermission and did not look back, cruising to a 6-0 victory over Roxbury CC on Tuesday afternoon.

Massasoit (9-5-2) will play its final regular season on Friday at home against Bristol CC. The match is set for 3:30 p.m.

Region XXI's leading scorer Joel Lobo (Brockton) started things off on the positive note for the Warriors. He was fouled inside the box and awarded a penalty kick, which was saved, but Lobo was able to dart after the ball and put it in the back of the net at the 13:35 mark of the opening stanza.

Less than two minutes later Joao Cardoso (Brockton) put the Warriors up 2-0. Ruben Varela (Brockton) and Mark Mackenzie (Swansea) also added goals in the first half to give Massasoit a 4-0 cushion at the break.

After halftime, Lobo netted his league-best 11th goal of the season at 55:46 and Wagner Amarante (Brockton) rounded out the scoring with a goal in the 80th minute of play.

Massasoit received a strong game off the bench from midfielder Lorinc Vincze (Hungary), who dished out a pair of assists in the win.

In net, keeper Andre Reis (Fall River) finished with two saves en route to his third clean sheet of the season.

Overall, the Warriors dominated play, outshooting Roxbury 32-7 and attempting 13 corner kicks to just four by the visiting squad.
