BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Freshman Mike Cappadona (Foxboro) will represent Massasoit Community College at the NJCAA Golf National Championship slated from June 2-5 at the Chautauqua Country Club in Chautauqua, N.Y.

Cappadona finished fourth overall at the two-day Region XXI Championship held at the New England Country Club in Bellingham, Mass., held from May 19-20.

The Foxboro native will play a practice round on Monday, prior to four official rounds. Cappadona will be joined throughout the tournament by first-year head coach Chris Ballerini.

CAPPS CAPS SEASON WITH TRIP TO NATIONALS
Cappadona, who goes by the nickname Capps, finished his first year on the Massasoit golf team with a pair of standout rounds at the Region XXI Tournament.

After firing an 81 on the first day, Cappadona followed that up with an 82 to finish with a two-day total of 163, ranking fourth overall. During the tournament, things looked bleak for Cappadona on the second day. On the front-9, he shot a 45, but rallied to close out the last nine holes with a 37 to qualify.

CAPPS COMPETES CONSISTENCY
For the season, Cappadona completed four total rounds, three coming at the New England Country Club. The freshman's low round score was an 80, but his high round was an 83, showing great consistency for the Warriors. His average score entering Nationals is 81.5 per round.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTRY CLUB
Since 2000, the Chautauqua Country Club has teamed up with Jamestown Community College to host the NJCAA Division III Golf National Championship.

Chautauqua boasts a pair of 18-hole, 72-par courses, with tournament action taking place on the Lake Course.

TOURNAMENT FIELD
A total of 91 student-athletes will tee it up next week, featuring 13 teams of five with the rest playing as individuals.

Region XXI is represented by CCRI as the conference champion and features individuals Austin McCreary (Dean College), Josh Holt (Holyoke CC), Chris Lynch (MassBay CC), Mike Kurson (MassBay CC) and Cappadona.
