CHARLESTOWN, Mass. ---- The Massasoit men's basketball team erased a double-digit deficit in the second half, but Bunker Hill escaped with a 65-63 win on Thursday night.

Rael Handy led Massasoit (0-2) with 18 points, followed by Jovani Harper-Lopez's (Randolph) 16 and Rollsky Edouard's (Holbrook) 15 as the Warriors return to the hardwood on Saturday at Northern Essex (1 PM).

Massasoit trailed the entire game until Harper-Lopez drained one of his four 3s on the night, putting the Warriors up 52-51 with 10:01 left in the game.

BHCC retook the lead at the 9:15 mark and held it the rest of the way.

Trailing 65-62, the Warriors had one last possession to tie the score. After a timeout with 11.2 seconds left, Handy launched a potential game-tying trey that was off the mark. Edouard was Johnny on the spot and grabbed the offensive rebound, raced to the 3-point line and rifled off a shot as the time expired. The shot hit off the iron, but Edouard was fouled and 0.3 seconds was put back on the clock.

Unfortunately, Edouard missed the first free throw and Bunker Hill improved to 2-1 with the win.
