BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Massasoit's Mike Ward was named to the All-Region 21 Men's Basketball First Team, announced by league officials on Tuesday.

Ward had a standout sophomore campaign, leading the team in scoring by averaging 20.1 ppg, more than tripling his average from his freshman season. He also topped the team in rebounds, corralling 8.7 a game. In addition, his scoring average finished fourth in the region.

The Brockton native totaled 10 double-doubles and netted 25 or more points on five occasions, including a 40-point effort at Great Bay CC. Ward shot 49.9 percent from the floor and scored in double figures in 24 of 25 games on the season.

For the year, Ward finished with 503 points, becoming the first Massasoit men's basketball player to surpass 500 points in a single-season since Spencer Brathwaite in 2010-11.

Ward concluded his two-year career at Massasoit with 647 points.
