Men’s Hoops Faces Bunker Hill in MCCAC Semis

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit men's basketball team will face Bunker Hill in the semifinals of the MCCAC State Tournament at 12 PM on Saturday at Quinsigamond CC in Worcester, Mass.

The other semifinal matchup features No. 2 Bristol (17-4) and No. 3 MassBay (15-11) at 2 PM. The semifinal winners will face in the championship on Sunday at 2 PM in Worcester.

Bunker Hill, the top seed, boasts an 18-5 overall and split with the No. 4 seed Warriors (13-10) in two meetings during the 2016-17 campaign. Massasoit squeaked out a 68-66 victory at home in the first showdown and dropped the second contest, 65-54, at Bunker Hill.

The Warrior lineup features three players averaging in double figures, led by sophomore post player Mike Ward. The Brockton native averages 20.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest, while Jovani Harper-Lopez (11.2) of Randolph and Ian Wade (10.9) of Brockton also pour in more than 10 points a game.

Massasoit has hit a bit of a skid down the stretch of the regular season. After winning seven of eight from Dec. 3 through Feb. 2, the Warriors have gone just 1-5 for the balance of the year.

Bunker Hill nets 81.4 PPG as a team and totals seven players who average 7-or-more points. Taris Wilson tops the Bulldogs, netting 13.7 PPG.
