Warriors Drop Home Tilt To MassBay, 78-66

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- A game that started off at a feverous pace saw the visiting MassBay Buccaneers hold off the Massasoit men's basketball team, 78-66, on Saturday afternoon at the Asiaf Field House.

The Warriors trailed by double digits in the opening stanza, but made a run behind the perimeter shooting of Ian Wade (Brockton) who sank four 3-pointers. Massasoit (13-9, 12-7) rallied to lead by as much as six in the first half, 37-31, but the Buccaneers closed the half on a 14-2 run to own a 45-39 halftime cushion.

MassBay's (15-11, 13-7) Justin Davis buried five of the Buccaneers seven first half 3s.

Wade and Mike Ward (Brockton) each had 12 points in the first half for Massasoit.

After the break, MassBay kept utilizing a balanced offensive attack, as five players finished in double figures, led by Davis' 22 points. Kameron Jimenez-Fox netted 16 and Zach Lebowitz added 14.

Ward led the Warriors with 16 points, followed by Bryan Tavares (Rockland) with 14, 12 coming in the second half. Connor Schaefer (Bourne) contributed eight points.

Massasoit closes out the regular season on Monday, hosting Gateway at 3 PM.
