Dias, Jackson Scoring Duo Lead Men’s Basketball Past MassBay, 82-77

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Myles Dias (Carver) and Leland Jackson (Atlanta) combined for 53 points as the Massasoit men's basketball team held off MassBay, 82-77, on Thursday night to capture its third win in a row.

The win propels the Warriors over the .500 mark at 6-5 and will close out the first semester on Saturday hosting Great Bay CC at 3 p.m.

The Warriors led 33-26 at halftime, behind 10 points from Dias.

In the second half is when Dias and Jackson really turned it on offensively. Dias netted 17 in the second stanza, and hit four 3s for the game, for a career-high 27. Jackson poured in 19 after the break to finish with 26.

The Warriors extended its lead to double figures last in the contest, but MassBay kept inching closer behind the play of guard Tevin Charles, who scored 22 of his 25 points in the second half.

The Massasoit lead shrunk to 80-76 with 10.7 left, but the Warriors sank some clutch free throws to earn the win.

Kamron Jimenz-Fox tied Charles for team-high honors in points with 25 for the Buccaneers.

Jashawn Houston (Randolph) and Paul Bentley (Bloomfield, Conn.) each reach double digits with 12 and 11 points apiece.
