HAVERHILL, Mass. ---- Clinging to a two-point lead in the closing seconds, Jashawn Houston (Randolph) stole a pass and went coast-to-coast to close out an 82-78 victory for the Massasoit men's basketball team at Northern Essex on Tuesday night.
The win evens up Massasoit's record at 2-2 and will head to Bunker Hill on Thursday for an 8 p.m. contest.
Leland Jackson (Atlanta, Ga.) posted a double-double with a game-high 23 points and pulled down 10 boards. Jackson sank four shots from beyond the 3-point arc and was a perfect 3-for-3 at the line in the victory.
Colin Campbell (Holbrook) also reached the 20-point plateau, finishing with 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Also reaching double figures was Houston, who finished with 16 on 7-of-12 shooting.
Jaylen Blakely (Brockton) and Myles Dias (Carver) added nine points apiece.
The Warriors shot a season-best 46 percent from the floor (29-of-63) and committed only 12 turnovers. Massasoit also had its most efficient game from 3-point range making 9-of-18 from downtown.
Northern Essex led the close contest 42-39 at the half.
Dominic Dar led the Knights with 15 points off the bench.
