Bristol Bees Sting Warriors In MCCAC Semifinals, 72-60

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Malcolm Muniz and Benjamin Nunez combined for 33 second half points, as Bristol CC bested the Massasoit CC men's basketball team, 72-60 in the semifinals of the MCCAC State Tournament.

The fourth-seeded Warriors (11-12) in the Massachusetts Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC) led the top-seed Bees, 32-30, at the break behind 12 points from freshman Leland Jackson (Brockton).

After intermission, the Bristol duo of Muniz and Nunez heated up. Nunez netted all 19 of his points in the second half, while Muniz went for 14 after the break.

Nunez buried a trio of 3-pointers and the duo went 13 of 17 at the line in the second half to hold off the Warriors.

The Warriors were held to a 31.7 shooting percentage, making only 20 of 63 shots and 2-for-11 from downtown. Massasoit did make it to the line 28 times, making 18.

Jackson topped Massasoit with 22 points and pulled down 10 boards. Jaheel Moise (Brockton) also registered a double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and added six blocks.

Trey Jones (Mattapan) added 15 points and William Baker (Brockton) finished with seven points, six assists and four rebounds.

Anthony Parker joined Nunez and Muniz in double figures for Bristol (19-6) with 13 points, 11 coming in the first half.

Bristol will take on No. 2 seed Springfield Tech in the MCCAC State Championship on Sunday at 2 p.m.
