BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Through the first six games of the season, the Massasoit men's basketball sat at just 2-4 overall with one of those wins coming on a forfeit.

During that beginning stretch, freshman center Mike Ward of Brockton, was not seeing much action on the floor. In the first six contests, the 6-foor-4 post player was averaging less than two points a game in minimal minutes.

Over the last three games, in which the Warrior have been competitive and boast a 2-1 record, Ward has been a major contributor.

Coming off the bench, the Southeastern Voc Tech graduate is averaging 7.3 points and 3.7 boards during the last three games. More impressively, when Ward shoots the ball, it goes in. He is 11-for-14 from the floor (78.5 percent) and has not missed more than one shot in any of the last three contests.

He posted a season-high 10 points and eight rebounds against Roxbury and on Thursday put in eight points on 4-of-5 shooting at Bristol.

Ward has been a spark of the bench due to his size, good hands and smooth jump shot. Expect the big man to be a major factor for the Warriors in the second half of the season.
