MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. ---- The Massasoit baseball team scored seven times in the last two innings to earn a come-from-behind 9-3 victory vs the CC of Morris on Monday.

The Warrior (1-2) offense woke up in the third game of the season, pounding out a season-best 11 hits, two each from Luis Ramirez (Dedham), Nick Andrews (Raynham), Luke DiTondo (Marshfield) and Dylan Edes (Holbrook). Ramirez knocked in two, while Andrews, O'Neill and Edes each recorded one RBI in the win.

The game was deadlocked in a scoreless tie entering the top of the third, when the Warriors used some timely two-out hitting to get on the scoreboard. With two down, Preston Rankin (Oak Harbor, Wash.) and Ricky Sherlock (Whitman) each drew walks. Aiden O'Neill (Halifax) and Edes followed by roping RBI base hits to put Massasoit up 2-0.

The two-run advantage was short lived, though, as CCM responded with two runs of its own in the third and tacked on another in the last of the fourth to own a 3-2 lead.

Still trailing 3-2 in the sixth, Massasoit batted around, putting up a four-spot in the frame, highlighted by a two-run double by Ramirez and RBI single from Andrews.

The Warrior offense was not yet, as they added three more insurance runs in the top of the seventh to round out the scoring.

Lost in the offensive outburst was the starting pitching of Luke DiTondo. The righty went the first five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) off four hits. He struck out seven and walked just one to earn the victory. He also helped his cause going 2-for-5 with two runs scored at the plate.

Sophomore veteran Tim DeCouto (Whitman) fired two scoreless frames to earn the save.

"It was great to get our first win," hall of fame head coach Tom Frizzell said. "DiTondo was lights out for us. CC of Morris is a very good team and it is a quality win for us against a strong DII team."

Massasoit plays a doubleheader on Tuesday, facing Bergen CC at 3 PM, followed by Danville CC at 6 PM.
