BROCKTON, Mass. ---- A total of six student-athletes off the Massasoit baseball team were honored with postseason accolades, recently announced by Region 21.

Massasoit, which finished the season 17-14 overall and 12-3 in league play, placed a trio of players on All-Region 21 First Team, in sophomore catcher Dylan Ashburn (Norton), freshman outfielder/pitcher Luke Lewando (Brockton) and freshman pitcher Jake Morris (Bourne).

The Warrior middle infield was honored with second team spots for sophomore shortstop Bryan Dwyer (Abington) and freshman second baseman Luis Ramirez (Dedham). In addition, freshman first baseman/catcher Ricky Sherlock (Whitman) was an honorable mention selection.

Ashburn produced a stellar second season with the Warriors, hitting .382 (34-for-89) with 22 runs scored, nine extra-base hits, 24 RBI and stole eight bases. The backstop really heated up down the stretch, posting seven multi-hit performances over his last nine games and hit and even .500 (17-for-34) during that stretch.  In addition, he clubbed his first two collegiate homers in a playoff win against Quinsigamond.

Lewando was an extremely versatile weapon for the Warriors, both patrolling centerfield and toeing the rubber. The lefty leadoff man hit .359 (37-for-103) and topped the team in runs scored (37), doubles (8) and shared the team lead in steals with 11.

In five appearances on the mound, totaling four starts, Lewando recorded a slim 1.29 ERA, yielding only four earned runs in 28 total innings. The southpaw allowed only 18 hits, struck out 20 and issued just six walks on the season. He held opponents to a .154 batting average against him.

Morris, another freshman pitcher, emerged as a workhorse for the Warriors during the 2017 season. The righty made eight total appearances, all starts, posting a 5-1 record, totaling 44 strikeouts in 39 innings. He held opponents to only 28 hits and totaled three complete games. In fact, Morris won his last five starts, including his lone playoff start against Quinsigamond. He finished third in the league in ERA, wins and strikeouts and held opponents to a .190 batting average.

Dwyer produced an outstanding sophomore campaign, despite only earning second team recognition. The No. 3 hitter for the Warriors all season topped the team in batting average (.422), on-base percentage (.479), slugging percentage (.588), hits (43), RBI (30) and was tied for team lead in stolen bases (11) and extra-base hits (10). He collected at least one hit in 26 of 30 games, recorded 13 multi-hit performances. Defensively, Dwyer started every game at shortstop and was a part of 21 double plays.

Dwyer's double player partner, Ramirez, had a strong freshman season at second base for Massasoit. The Dedham native hit .360 with 22 runs scored, 22 RBI and nine extra-base hits, including a pair of homers. Ramirez was involved in plenty of double players, helping turn 17.

Rounding out the award winners was Sherlock, who saw time at catcher, first base and designated hitter for the Warriors as a freshman. The slugger from Whitman topped the team in homers, launching five, which also finished tied for third in the region. Sherlock finished tied for the team lead with 10 extra base hits, adding five doubles to his five homers. He hit .262 and showed great discipline, drawing a team-high 18 walks for a .449 on-base percentage, while also slugging .569 and driving in 23.
