Academy Baseball of Canada Tops Massasoit, 9-0

VERO BEACH, Fla. ---- The Academy Baseball of Canada used a five-run top of the first inning to defeat the Massasoit Community College baseball team, 9-0, on Friday.

ABC batted around in the first, collecting five hits to help account for the big opening frame.

Warrior starter Tom Protentis (0-1) of Lakeville, was saddled with the loss. The sophomore, right-hander went the first three innings surrendering eight runs (five earned) off seven hits. He did total five strikeouts, but walked four.

A bright spot for Massasoit was the relief work of righties Brent Eaton (Kingston) and Scott Anderson (Hanover). Eaton fired a scoreless fourth, while Anderson allowed just one hit over two innings of work in his first collegiate outing.

ABC held Massasoit to just two hits, base knocks from leadoff hitter Al Carey (East Bridgewater) and Justin Martinho (Dighton).
