Revanales, Sprague Sweep NSCAA Junior College Player Of The Week Awards

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Massasoit Community College swept the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Junior College Player of the Week Awards, with Andrew Revanales (Trinidad/Sharon HS) of the men’s team and Shelby Sprague (Stoughton/Stoughton HS) of the women’s team claiming the honors.

Sprague produced a standout debut for the Warriors, helping propel the women’s soccer team to a 7-5 victory over Monroe College JV last Sunday.  In her first collegiate soccer match, Sprague posted a hat trick and added an assist in the team’s season opener.

The Stoughton native played sweeper in the first half, but moved up to forward midway through the second half. The position change proved to be the right move, as Sprague took part in all four of the team's goals after intermission, netting three and assisting on the other. She finished with six shots, five coming on net in her memorable first game with the Warriors.

Since last week, Sprague added four more goals, all in the second half of a 7-0 win against Bunker Hill on Tuesday.

On the men’s side, Revanales netted three goals in two games for Massasoit, as the Warriors went 1-1 on the week. In a midweek divisional game at CCRI, the sophomore forward scored both goals in a 2-0 win over the Knights. Last Saturday, in a tough-luck 4-3 overtime loss to Monroe CC, Revanales scored on a breakaway just 29 seconds into the contest. He finished the week with eight shots, four coming on goal.

In addition, Revanales added a goal in a 3-2 loss to rival Dean College this Wednesday. For the season, the sophomore striker has six goals.
