Jim Pereira returns for his third season as the pitching coach for the Massasoit baseball program.

Under Pereira's watch, Massasoit right-hander Ian Nadeau was named First Team All-Region 21 as a freshman. The righty was also named NJCAA Division III Player of the Week for tossing a one-hitter vs NHTI on March 23rd.

As a staff in 2019, the Warriors nearly averaged one strikeout per inning, collecting 8.72 punchouts per nine, by fanning a total of 186 in 192 innings pitched. Massasoit also tallied nine complete games on the season.

In February of 2020, Pereira was named Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League Commissioner after serving as head coach of the Sag Harbor Whalers in the summer of 2019.

Before his time at Massasoit, Pereira was the pitching coach under Coach Kraig Kupiec's staff at Newbury College for two years, 2017 and 2018.

“Jim brings a wealth of baseball knowledge to the Warrior program,” Kupiec stated.  “His previous experiences coaching in college, high school, and collegiate summer leagues will benefit the development of our young pitching staff.”

Prior to his year at Newbury College, Pereira served as the pitching coach at Curry College from 2007 to 2010.   His summers since 2005 have been spent coaching in elite collegiate summer leagues including the Cape Cod League (Bourne Braves, 2005; Wareham Gatemen 2006-2007, 2011), Cal Ripken Summer Collegiate Baseball League (Rockville Express, 2008-2009), and Hamptons Collegiate Summer League (Sag Harbor Whalers).  In addition to serving as Head Coach at Seekonk High School (2003-2006), Coach Pereira worked as a scout for the Cincinnati Reds from 1991-2002.

Pereira retired as a teacher from Diman Regional and resides in Somerset. He currently runs Proway Baseball, an indoor baseball facility in Fall River.
