Jordan McDermott enters her fourth season as head coach of the Massasoit softball program.

Under McDermott's watch, the Warriors captured the Region 21 Championship in 2018 for the first time in five seasons. Massasoit advanced to the NJCAA Division III District H Tournament, falling to host Anne Arundel CC in Arnold, Maryland.

In 2018, McDermott coached five student-athletes to earn All-Region 21 accolades: Courtney Foley (INF/OF), Mallory Fey (RHP/1B), Neive Doyle (C), Karen Snow (1B/OF) and Jazmyn Conrad (SS).

Last year, Massasoit tallied the most wins in a season since 2015, snapped a 19-game losing streak to Division II power CCRI and swept a four-game series against rival Northern Essex.

McDermott was a three-year starter and All-MASCAC selection at Bridgewater State in both softball and soccer and served as a captain during her senior season in each sport.

In softball she finished her three-year career with a .304 batting average, totaling 110 hits in 362 at bats and was 42 of 52 on stolen base attempts. A versatile player, McDermott saw time both in centerfield and at shortstop. Her best season came in her final year at BSU, hitting at a .331 clip along with swiping a team-best 17 steals, only being caught once, leading the Bears to a 29-13 record.

On the soccer pitch, McDermott played forward and started every game during her last two seasons, finishing her career with 13 goals and 12 assists. As a junior she led her team in goals (7) and points (17) and tied for team-high in points as a senior (17) in 2011.

McDermott graduated from Bridgewater State in 2012, earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a concentration in recreation.

After concluding her collegiate career, McDermott has been heavily involved in coaching at the high school ranks. She has been an assistant softball coach at her alma mater East Bridgewater High School and coached the JV softball program at Oliver Ames High School. At EB, she assisted the Vikings in making back-to-back MIAA State Championships, claiming the title in 2014.

She has also gained valuable coaching experience as head coach of the South Coast Storm AAU program and assisting the Mass Blackout U18 team.

Prior to being a collegiate student-athlete and coaching, McDermott was an Enterprise All-Scholastic selection in both soccer and softball while at East Bridgewater HS.
